DVLA have recently announced that it is considering closing its entire entire network of Local Offices across the UK by 2013.
This will have serious implications for those wishing to apply for an age related number plate for an unregistered bike.
All the services which the Local Offices currently provide Including registrations will be transferred to Swansea and be operated via a postal service.
For those of you who have dealt with DVLA in the past I dont need to explain the importance of being able to speak to them face to face, customers would be forced to deal with them via their call centre which already presents a number of issues. The postal service will also mean a delay to the registration of your vehicle.
There is a public consultation running until March the 6th and I want to urge you all to please consider signing the on line petition to keep all Local Offices open.
If you wish to support the Local Offices and the important services they offer please follow the link and sign the petition
www.savethedvla.co.uk
Or
If you wish to take part in the public consultation and state your opposition to closure then please email
consultations.cad@dvla.gsi.gov.uk
Please mark it Response to the consultation on Transforming Government (DVLA) services and stress the value of face to face over the counter dealings with the DVLA.
Please make your opposition heard while we still have the chance to save them.

Some LCGB members and scooterists from the wider community may may have seen a recent release by the Bradford Exchange Company of a miniature Lambretta SX200 carried a description and apparent endorsement from the LCGB, along with the Club logo.
About a year ago, the LCGB committee was asked to comment on the quality of the reproduction. However, no request was made for our endorsement of the product. The committee, in good faith, informed Bradford Exchange Company that the model in question was accurately-made in terms of a comparison with other porcelain models produced and sold in the past. However, this did not mean an endorsement was given. We were therefore surprised and shocked when both the word endorsed appeared in advertising for this item.
Following representations by the LCGB committee, this advertising has now been changed. The LCGB committee is rightly proud of the name and logo, built up over many years and contracts to endorse items such as mentioned are rarely entered in to. We are happy that the material has been withdrawn and accept its use was a clerical error. The LCGB committee would also like to clarify that there is not, nor has there ever been any interest from the sale of this item to the LCGB.

Now available to download is the 2011 LCGB Bridlington Scooter Custom Show entry form, to complete & return by Saturday 15th October 2011.
Listed on the entry form are over 20 different categories in both Custom and Ridden Scooter Classes for this years show, with over 80 trophies on offer to first & second placed winners in each of the different classes. Following last years success of getting not only the top UK Custom Scooters at the show, alongside those old favourite ridden Custom Scooters, more categories for ridden scooters have been added for 2011.
Please note a few minor changes this year, designed to assist with the smooth running and organisation of the event. The LCGB have taken the decision not to allow 'on the day' entry to the Custom Show and therefore advanced application to enter your Scooter at this years show at The Spa, Bridlington is a must, with a strict closing date of Saturday 15th October 2011. Also, Club Display entries will be restricted to a maximum of 5 scooters per club entry.
These changes have been made to allow up to 100 scooters to be displayed at this years show, with the obvious advanced organisation that goes into holding such an event.
If you have any queries regarding completion of the entry form, or generally about the 2011 LCGB Bridlington Custom Show, please give me a ring on:

The Windermere Ferry is found at the end of the B5284 & then once over the Ferry you have a choice of routes. Either the traditional & arguably the best scooter riding route in England - to Coniston, the A593, onto Wrynose & Hard Knott Passes, or a slight longer route through the Lake District via Keswick (A591) & Cockermouth (A66/A595) onto the end location, that (almost) famous of places for an LCGB event - the Seacote Hotel, St. Bees http://www.seacote.com
